Motorists vow to leave earlier to beat traffic on Mandela Highway
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — There was a pile-up of traffic on Mandela Highway from as early as 5:45 this morning. A few motorists have expressed that they were hoping that they would have been early enough to beat the congestion coming out of Portmore, St Catherine.
One motorists told OBSERVER ONLINE minutes after 6:00 am that he was surprised that he got stuck before 6:30 am.
A police officer from the Ferry Police Station said that the traffic was not that bad as he had seen worse.
At 6:30 am, a female motorist from Hellshire in St Catherine, who was taking her daughter to Immaculate Conception High, told our news team that she left home about 5:30 am but would make plans to leave earlier tomorrow.
Another motorist, who resides in Passagefort, said he normally leaves out at 6:00 am but left out 20 minutes earlier to beat the traffic.
“It terrible already and the morning just start” he said while waiting at the Mandela/Portmore.
