77 children benefit from Continental Baking Company’s education programme
A total of 77 students are now recipients of Continental Baking Company’s education assistance programme.
This year’s awards ceremony and luncheon was held at Jamaica Pegasus hotel where the students, and their parents who are employees of the company, received words of encouragement from the management.
The programme, which was launched in 1986, rewards academic excellence and provides assistance to the children of the company’s workers.
It was conceptualised by Continental Baking Company CEO Gary “Butch” Hendrickson, whose passion for education and development of Jamaica’s youth is well known.
At this year’s awards ceremony, Hendrickson’s son, Craig, who has embraced the programme, encouraged the students to stay focused in school advising that education is the way to move forward.
To qualify for the programme, students have to meet its academic, attendance and behavioural standards. At least one parent should be an employee of Continental Baking Company for at least three years, and must be recommended for assistance by his/her manager.
