KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) says that it has been forced to shut down operations at the Constant Spring Water Treatment Plant in St Andrew as a result of a break on the 21-inch transmission pipeline.

Areas affected include: Valentine Garden, Red Hills Road, Molynes Road, Constant Spring Road, Havendale, Half Way Tree, Lady Musgrave, White Hall Gardens, Eastwood Park Gardens, Hughenden, Grants Pen, Manor Park, Shortwood, Whitehall Gardens, Eastwood Park Gardens, Hughenden, Havendale, Cross Roads, Manor Park, Camperdown, Manning’s Hill Road, Red Hills Road, Arlene Gardens, Roehampton, Calabar Mews, Zaidie Gardens, State Gardens, Molynes Road, Washington Boulevard.

Today’s event is the second water supply shut-down in five days as road improvement works continue on Constant Spring Road. Last Friday the NWC, in a release, said that the pipeline was damaged as a result of road expansion works in the vicinity of Hillman Road. The NWC did not state the reasons for today’s damage to the pipeline.

Regular service is expected to be restored on or before 6:00 pm today, the NWC said.
