Quata Blann makes his mark
Montego Bay-based artiste Quata Blann addresses the tattoo craze on Colour Up E, his new song.
“It is basically a follow-up to Vybz Kartel’s Colouring Book. Right now, the feedback has been overwhelming especially from out of western Jamaica. Tattoo lovers are logging onto it,” he explained.
To capitalise on Colour Up E’s encouraging start, Quata Blann plans to produce a video which he hopes will be released in the next six weeks.
He said fans at Exact Monday in Montego Bay showed him and the song much love when he performed at that event last week.
“The patrons were singing the song word for word and it was really encouraging.”
Originally from Clarendon, Quata Blann is known for songs like Wifey, Anything and Bruka (featuring Chilando).
“My journey has been hard and complicated, as in to get accepted by the fans, but at the same time, it has been enjoyable. Because of the love I have for music, I will not complain,” he said.
Quata Blann (real name Shawn Cheddan) made his recording debut with the song Every Gal for producer Patrick “Roach” Samuels.
