Supreme Ventures Limited reinforced their sponsorship of the Red Stripe Premier League through its brand JustBet with another $10 million commitment plus an additional $1.2 million for players’ insurance.

Simone Clarke-Cooper, Supreme Ventures’ Assistant Vice President, Group Corporate Communications, said they are resolute in their commitment to contribute to the development of football in Jamaica.

“Our commitment to the league is $10 million and we are very proud of that investment. We are also deeply excited and humbled to return this year as the insurance sponsors for the Red Stripe Premier League,” said Clarke-Cooper.

“Long before I was born, in 1973, a football league started in Jamaica, that has grown into the most popular and exciting in this country. Now the top division for men’s football in Jamaica, it is a top- tier show of Jamaica’s skills and promise on the pitch. This is Jamaica’s World Cup,” she added.

Supreme Ventures became involved in the Premier League through sponsorship since 2011 and every year since they have recommitted themselves to what they call more than just sports.

“It’s a way of life. It’s about fun, entertainment, excitement and fair play, much like our brands at Supreme Ventures,” Clarke-Cooper emphasised.

Supreme Ventures Group, the premier gaming and entertainment provider in Jamaica, has also pumped in $1.2 million to cover players’ insurance since 2017 and Clarke-Cooper noted that a lot of players benefited.

“We are told that, that $1.2 million that we committed to that purpose last year has gone to very good use and that many in the league have benefited tremendously from it because of what it has been able to provide,” she said.

“These young men are leaving it all on the pitch in the name of their clubs. We are very heartened to know that they can now do so with an added level of comfort, knowing that should anything happen, they will be taken care of without fear as to where the money will come from,” Clarke-Cooper added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA) Edward Seaga said every player must have a signed contract to be able to play in the Premier League.

“Those who don’t will not be allowed to play football here or abroad. So players who did not sign a contract with their clubs should do so now,” urged Seaga.

“The problem of rough fields does not exist everywhere. But for those clubs with rough fields should make the effort to improve the situation now so that players can have good surfaces for play. Football deserved this,” he added.
