Conkarah blooms with Cherrytree’s Riddim
CONKARAH’S latest song, Up Jump Di Riddim, i s currently in the Top 40 of the iTunes Reggae Chart, and in Apple Music’s A-List Reggae.
Released early this month, the pop-reggae fusion track is produced by Grammy-winning DJ/producer Dave Aude for Cherrytree Records. It is the singer’s first project with the label.
“Martin Kierszenbaum wrote the song. He just said he had a feel-good reggae song for me,” Conkarah told the Jamaica Observer.
Kierszenbaum, a Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer, is principal of Cherrytree Music Company which he founded in 2005. The label manages Sting and sold 20 million units of Lady Gaga’s debut album, The Fame.
Feist, Ellie Goulding, Robyn, La Roux, LMFAO, Far East Movement and Disclosure are also associated with the label.
A former athlete, Conkarah (given name Nicholas Murray) was born in Jamaica but lives in London. He received an athletic scholarship to the University of Virginia.
Conkarah has worked with producers including Jeremy Harding, Donovan Germain and Niko Browne of Lifeline Music. His EPs charted on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.
Don’t Kill My Love reached number seven in 2016, while 2017’s Timeless Love peaked at number four.
His songs include covers of Adele’s Hello (with Rosie Delmah) and Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud.
