Princess Annie comes into the Cash Pot with a glimmer of hope
Even though Princess Annie is yet to past the winning post in front, champion trainer Wayne DaCosta is of the view that his maiden two-year-old filly can figure prominently in tomorrow’s Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy, the first jewel in the Triple Crown series-sponsored by Supreme Ventures Limited.
Princess Annie made her debut in the Front Runner Dash trophy over five furlongs (1,000m) on the round course (August 11) and was beaten into second place by over five lengths, with Baltusrol coming out the winner in that event.
She then returned in the Front Runner Sprint Trophy (September 8) over five-and-a-half furlongs (1,100m) and again Princess Annie was beaten into second place; this time by the talented Casual Drink by all of seven lengths in an impressive time of 1:06.4.
On both occasions, Princess Annie was seen making late head way in the straight giving the impression that the longer the race, the better it will be for the far-striding filly.
Going six furlongs (1,200m) for the Cash Pot “Only One For Me” Trophy, DaCosta is hopeful that his charge can at least get a piece of the pie’ although he knows it is going to be very difficult to do so.
“She [ Princess Annie] has not won a race yet but I think that she is tidy enough to run good, even win or even place for that matter. I do not think that the race will have a lot of runners, so I think that she will have a decent chance of earning,” DaCosta advanced.
