I Love Soca aims to thrill
I Love Soca Jamaica Cooler Festival is scheduled for Sabina Park in St Andrew tonight.
“We know it’s out of carnival season, but it’s to fill the thirst of Jamaican soca lovers,” Ian Bourne, I Love Soca director, told the Jamaica Observer.
The popular format of allowing patrons to bring their own coolers filled with drinks has been a huge hit locally. For this event there will be a strong line-up of DJs, international and Jamaican, to play soca music throughout the night. On the Jamaican side are DJ Richie Ras, DJ Smoke, Coppershot and DJ Franco. The overseas contingent will be led by DJ Private Ryan and DJ Charlotte.
“Rather than live music or performance, we’ve gone for a several top DJs known for their Soca expertise — like DJ Private Ryan,” Bourne said.
The first I Love Soca event in April came at the height of carnival season and thrilled patrons with musical performances which melded soca and dancehall, as artistes such as Kerwin Dubois, Nailah Blackman, and Alison Hinds stood side-by-side with Chi Ching Ching and Ding Dong along with his Ravers Clavers crew.
“Our next I Love Soca will be on Boxing Day, December 26, so soca fans won’t have to wait too long,” said Bourne.
