6-y-o boy swept away in May Pen floodwaters, dies
CLARENDON, Jamaica — The police are reporting that a six-year-old boy was killed after being swept away by floodwaters in the Mount Claire area of Clarendon yesterday afternoon.
He is identified as Dajahne Pennant of Oliver Gardens, May Pen.
According to reports from the May Pen police, Dejahne was on way home with a 13-year-old relative about 3:00 pm when they attempted to cross a flooded channel. They were both swept away by the water.
The teen managed to pull herself from the water, however Dejahne was swept further downstream by the strong current, the police said.
Lawmen were summoned and a search ensued.
His body was later retrieved from the water.
Investigations continue.
