Flash flood watch extended until 5:00 am tomorrow
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica has extended the flash flood watch for low-lying and flood-prone areas of all parishes until 500 am tomorrow.
Unstable atmospheric conditions due to the remnants of Tropical Storm Kirk as well as a trough just west of Jamaica continue to affect weather across the island.
Satellite imagery and rainfall reports indicate shower and thunderstorm activity across most parishes today, the Met Service said.
The forecast is for periods of showers and thunderstorms to continue across the island this evening into Wednesday. Flash-flooding is therefore possible over some low-lying and flood-prone areas.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed through releases from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
