Phillips leads PNP delegation to US, China
KINGSTON, Jamaica — People’s National Party (PNP) President and Leader of the Opposition, Dr Peter Phillips will leave the island today for meetings with stakeholders in the United States and China.
Phillips is set to address members of the Jamaican diaspora, including Jamaica College (JC) old boys in New York before traveling to the People’s Republic of China where he will be the special guest of the Communist Party of China, the PNP said in a statement this morning.
The party further outlined that while in China, the Opposition Leader will have vital discussions with major Chinese investors with interests in Jamaica, including Jiguan Iron and Steel Company (JISCO), which now operates the Alumina Partners of Jamaica (ALPART) plant located at Nain, St Elizabeth.
Phillips is to be accompanied by Opposition Spokesperson on foreign affairs and foreign trade, Lisa Hanna and Opposition Spokesperson on mining and energy, Phillip Paulwell, on the China leg of the overseas engagement, while Mikael Phillips, Opposition Spokesperson on transport and works, will accompany the team for the US leg of the trip.
