MONTEGO BAY, St James — Corporate Transport Services (CTS) rolls out its new ‘City to City’ luxury passenger express bus service, starting tomorrow from Montego Bay destined for Kingston with a return trip.

Chief executive officer (CEO) of CTS the parent company of Corporate Express, Constantine “Charlie” Hines informed that two round trips per day are to be initially offered between Kingston and Montego Bay.

Passengers are to be charged a fee of $2,500 for each leg, but senior citizens and students get discounted rates of $2,200 and $2,000 respectively.

“We are doing Kingston to Montego Bay, vice-versa, direct, and we start on Friday (tomorrow). We are only charging $2,500 one way to get you to Kingston in two and a half hours,” said Hines, noting that “we had a successful test run last week”.

The coaches depart simultaneously from stations in Montego Bay and Kingston at 5:30 and 8:30 in the mornings.

In the afternoons, the departure hours are 12:00 noon and 6:00 from Montego Bay and 3:30 and 6:00 from Kingston.

The station in Montego Bay is located on Gloucester Avenue, near to the Old Fort craft market, while the one in Kingston is located at 2A Chelsea Avenue, at the corner of Half-Way-Tree Road.

Currently, Corporate Express operates with a fleet of three coaches.

Hines further disclosed that the company is now awaiting the arrival of six coaches to add to the fleet.

“All our units are brand new coaches coming from the factory. We have movies, Wi-Fi and bathrooms. We now have three buses, but there are an additional six on order because we are going to do a lot of charters, and we have other routes that we are going to open up,” Hines revealed.

“Corporate Transport Services’ tagline is “we put service in transportation’, pretty much our goal is to provide good service for the travelling public at affordable rates.”

Apart from providing transportation for passengers, Corporate Transport Services is offering a courier service.

“We are also going to be carrying packages too, which we are going to roll out a few weeks after. We have made a deliberate attempt to just roll out the ‘passenger-side’, get the staff perfect, before we integrate the courier service. Everything for the courier service is in place, but we chose to just have the ‘passenger-side’ going for a couple weeks and then we integrate the courier service,” Hines told the Jamaica Observer West.

President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Winston Lawson, said earlier this week that he wasn’t aware of the new service.

He, however, expressed delight that “the booming Montego Bay economy is attracting new investments.”

“Montego Bay is growing and this naturally means increased demands…these demands are what allows for investors to make rational decisions to invest right here in Montego Bay, across industries.
