Hyundai’s trifecta
Magna Motors Dealership Limited — the exclusive distributor of the Hyundai line of motor vehicles in Jamaica — launched their refreshed for 2019 Hyundai Creta sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Saturday, October 27, with a special test drive event at their Oxford Road showroom in Kingston.
“The Creta was good for us, so the new model just builds on what was a winning formula,” Carlos Geourzoung, sales manager at Magna Motors told the Jamaica Observer’s Auto Magazine.
The Creta is the smallest of the three SUVs in the Hyundai model line-up. The larger, Tuscon and top-of-the-line Santa Fe, were launched in September of this year.
“We weren’t able to launch all three together because the worldwide demand for the Creta has been very high. We only were able to get the first batch in for October,” the sales manager informed.
The Creta’s drive-train remains the same 1.6 naturally aspirated four-cylinder paired to a six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels as the outgoing model. The styling upgrades are immediately noticed as the Creta now sports the familial grill and design cues of the other Hyundai SUVs.
New for 2019 are goodies such as projector lamps, and daytime running lights while the interior gets most of the upgrades to increase passenger comfort. There are now three trim levels, starting at $4.2 million with the standard Creta all the way up to the fully loaded model that now has leather and a sunroof.
Geourzoung added that things are bit more interesting with the mid-specification Creta Plus, as it offers colour options, interior and exterior, that allows buyers a level of customisation to suit their personality.
