Police/ military operation underway in August Town; residents urged to cooperate

ST ANDREW, Jamaica — The police are urging residents of August Town and surrounding communities to comply with instructions given by members of the security forces, as a joint police/military operation is now underway in the area.

This follows separate shooting incidents in the community on Friday, which reportedly left two persons dead and another in hospital.

The police were subsequently forced to heighten their presence to combat the violence and to restore order in the community.

Investigators theorise that the two shootings were the result of an ongoing gang feud in the area.
