Seven Westmoreland men charged for being part of a criminal organisation
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Seven men from Westmoreland were today charged with several breaches of the Criminal Justice Suppression of Criminal Organisations Act, the Firearms Act, and breaches of the Common Law, following a joint police/military operation at Kings Valley in the parish on Wednesday, October 10.
The seven were charged by detectives assigned to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch.
A report from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) outlined that the men were interviewed and faced identification parades in the presence of their attorneys before being formally charged today.
Charged are:

[naviga:li]20-year-old Romaro McKenniso, otherwise called ‘Ratty’ or ‘Bud Pickney’, of Kings Valley who is charged with being part of a criminal organisation, facilitating the commission of various offences by a criminal organisation, illegal possession of firearm and murder.[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]25-year-old Christon Grant, otherwise called ‘Bobby’ or ‘Echoy’, of Peggy Barry who is charged with being part of a criminal organisation, facilitating the commission of various offences by a criminal organisation and conspiracy to murder[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li] 32-year-old Hopeton Sankey, otherwise called ‘Leadda’ or ‘Bigga’, of Kings Valley who is charged with being part of a criminal organisation[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li]51-year-old Ricky Hall, otherwise called ‘Bad Wata’ of Peggy Barry, who is charged with being part of a criminal organisation, facilitating the commission of various offences by a criminal organisation and knowingly providing a benefit to a criminal organisation[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li] 31-year-old Carlington Godfrey, otherwise called ‘Tommy’, of Kings Valley, who is charged with being part of a criminal organisation, facilitating the commission of various offences by a criminal organisation, and[/naviga:li]

[naviga:li] 21-year-old Lindell Powell, otherwise called ‘Lazarus’, of Kings Valley, who is charged with being part of a criminal organisation and participating in the commission of various offences by a criminal organisation.[/naviga:li]

The accused men are scheduled to appear in the Home Circuit Court on Thursday, November 8.
