Twenty-two Canadian universities and colleges will be in Jamaica this week, November 5 to 8, for the annual Study in Canada education fair to offer students, parents and teaching staff the chance to learn about study opportunities in Canada.

The fair will be held in Kingston at Spanish Court Hotel, Worthington Centre, on November 5 and 6 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm; and in Montego Bay, on November 8 at Holiday Inn Resort from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Both stagings are open to the general public, and entry is free of charge.

“We are delighted to invite to Jamaica some of Canada’s finest tertiary education institutions,” said Laurie Peters, Canada’s High Commissioner to Jamaica. “All are invited to discover why Canada remains a top study destination for Caribbean students.”

Among the schools that will participate are Assiniboine College, Brescia/King’s University College, Brock University, Centennial College, Dalhousie University, Durham College, Fanshawe College, George Brown College, Humber College, Lakehead University, Loyalist College, McMaster University, New Brunswick Community College, Niagara College, Northern Lights College, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Sheridan College, University of Guelph, University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and University of Prince Edward Island.

A feature of the Study in Canada education fair is a briefing hosted by the High Commission of Canada, particularly for local high school guidance counsellors and education stakeholders, as well as the Canadian institutions. Chief Executive Officer of AIM Educational Services Nicole McLaren Campbell will be the guest speaker at this year’s briefing.

Representatives from the High Commission of Canada’s Commercial and Migration Programs will also be present at the fair to provide additional information on scholarships, visa requirements and study options.

The study tour will next visit The Bahamas, on November 15-16.

The Jamaica leg is part of the 2018 Caribbean Regional Education Tour co-ordinated by the High Commission of Canada in Jamaica and Global Affairs Canada.
