St Catherine, Excelsior continue defence of ISSA High Schools netball today
DEFENDING champions St Catherine High and Excelsior High will place their unbeaten run on the line as the second round of the 2018 Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Junior leauge n etball continues today at the Leila Robinson Courts, beginning at 1:30 pm.
St Catherine High, who are the Junior League champions, will face Wolmer’s High School For Girls, while Senior League champions Excelsior High will go up against Merl Grove High at 3:15 pm.
The teams are divided into two groups in both the Junior and Senior Leagues, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.
It should be keen competition between St Catherine and Gaynstead in the Junior League Group One, while Group Two should see a three-way battle between Camperdown, The Queen’s School, and Norman Manley.
In the Senior League Group One, St Catherine and Gaynstead should have a battle royale for the top two positions, while Group Two has champions Excelsior, The Queen’s School and Camperdown as the trio who will be battling for the two places in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the Phyllis Thompson-coached St Catherine aggregation has won all their preliminary-round matches and is expected to continue their winning ways.
Christopher Smart, coach of Excelsior, the AlI-Island Senior League champions, should maintain their unbeaten run with a win today.
Other teams who should continue with their unbeaten run in their respective sections are The Queen’s School, Gaynstead High, Norman Manley High, and Camperdown High.

Seniors: Group One — Gaynstead High, St Catherine High, St Andrew Technical High (STATHS), Jose Marti Technical, Meadowbrook High, and Holy Childhood High.
Group Two — Excelsior High, The Queen’s School, Camperdown High, St Andrew High For Girls, Merl Grove and Ardenne High.
