Berger Elite League netball competition begins next Tuesday
Kingston Humming Birds will begin the defence of their 2018/2019 Berger Elite League netball competition against St Ann Orchids next Tuesday at Leila Robinson Courts, beginning at 7:15 pm.
There will be an opening ceremony with the six participating teams, scheduled to start at 6:30 pm.
The six participating teams are Kingston Humming Birds, St Ann Orchids, Clarendon Gators, Manchester Spurs, St Catherine Racers, and St James Sharpes.
Players were selected from various clubs, placed into a pool, then drawn to represent the various teams. Only a few teams will have some national representatives in the squad of players.
The Humming Birds will have national player/shooter Shanice Beckford along with former national centre Paula Thompson. The other players on the team are Sabrina Spence, Crystal Crawford, Abbeygail Linton, Hasana Williams, Susan Douglas, Mellisa Mills, Sari Jae Stewart, and Kanila Riley.
National Sunshine Girls Head Coach Marvette Anderson is the head coach for the team, with her assistant being Roy Pryce.
St Ann Orchids have three national representatives in their team— top shooter Thristina Harwood, centre Adean Thomas, and defender Vangelee Williams.The other members are Rebekah Robinson, Tricia McCalla, Kimberly Thomas, Simone Gordon, Titanya Blackstock, and Shanique McFarlane.
Coaches for the team are Janet Guy as head coach and her assistant is Keyan Murdock.
Manchester Spurs are coached by Connie Francis with assistant Patricia Jackson, with Anna-Kay Griffiths and Khadijah Williams included in the team. The other players are Gezelle Allison, Trishana Hanson, Tracy Robinson, Shannika Johnson, Nicole Dixon, Suthania Scott, Bianca Samuels, and Cartalee Tinging.
Clarendon Gaters’ coaches are Dalton Hinds as head coach and his assistant is Valerie Blake.
Members of the Gaters team are Shadeiky Hamlton-Barnes, Shadian Hemmings, Amanda Pinkney, Mischa Creary, Latanya Wilson, Monique Emery, Melesha Josephs, Danielle Masters, Denay Thomas, and Petal Smith.
St Catherine Racers will be coached by Christopher Smart and Natacia Nembhard.
The players who will be representing St Catherine Spurs are Tracy Ann Francis, Jamila Tulloch, Antoinette Stone, Quania Walker, Keila Henry, Nardia Hanson, Amanda Thompson, Sashalee Wallen, Zonasha Hinds and Chenika Jones.
Jennifer Brown is the head coach of St James Sharpes, with her assistant being Phyllis Thompson.
Representing the Sharpes will be Kera Christie, Priscilla Thompson, Kasey Evering, Sateva Taylor-Barnes, Sasha Dixon, Vanessa James, Shancie Rhodes, Kestina Sturridge, Dhanyel Johnson, and Conique Moore.
