Different Strokes goes ‘Yardie Style’
NEGRIL, Westmoreland — Promoters of Negril’s signature retro party series, the Charley’s JB Overproof Rum-sponsored Different Strokes, has dubbed Saturday’s staging of the event set for Cayenne Beach in the resort town “Yardie Style”.
Hundreds of patrons are expected to turn out to dance the night away to their favourite retro songs played by some of Jamaica’s finest retro selectors.
“The retro era in Jamaica’s music showcased so much of Jamaica’s culture and brought our music to the world, so this staging is really all about celebrating Brand Jamaica,” said Sean Greenfield, organiser and producer of the bi-annual event.
“This will be highlighted in the food, the decor and the overall ambience, as patrons are being asked to represent in their Jamaica colours.”
Greenfield told the Jamaica Observer West that the event, “known for its high standards and quality that patrons have grown to love and enjoy”, will take them on a musical journey.
“It will be a spectacular night to relive the music of yesteryear orchestrated by veteran DJ Mixx Master Marvin of Kool FM; DJ Denvo, FAME FM and the Negril-based Smoke Infinity,” said Greenfield, adding that “an unforgettable night is promised as this line-up showcases stalwarts in the retro arena.”
Different Strokes retro party is a staple on the Negril entertainment scene, attracting scores of patrons from across the island and overseas.
“We are encouraging patrons to book their rooms, enjoy a night of fantastic entertainment, then wake up to the beauty of Negril. There’s no place like Negril, so come experience its charm, beauty and alluring effect,” said Greenfield, adding, “We have always maintained that Negril is more than a venue, it is a destination.”
Admission for the party is $1,000 presold and $1,500 at the gate, while a VIP pass attracts a price tag of $5,000 presold and $6,000 at the gate.
VIP passes include fully Jamaican cuisine, beers, vodka and several other beverages, according to the organisers.
