UPDATE: Lone pilot in JDF helicopter crash escapes serious injury

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The lone pilot aboard the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) which crashed in Portmore, St Catherine this morning managed to walk away without serious injuries, based on reports so far.

The helicopter reportedly crash behind the Phoenix Park Housing Scheme near Dunbeholden about 10:40am.

The pilot has since been taken to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) for examination.

The cause of the crash is yet to be established and the destination of the flight is still unknown.

Authorities say the main focus right now is to preserve the scene so that a thorough investigation can be carried out.
