UPDATE: ‘Puppy Rice’ nabbed in murder of athlete Kavon Nelson
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police are reporting that a man known as “Puppy Rice” is to appear before court on Thursday after charges were formally laid against him in relation to the murder of quarter-miler and footballer, Kavon Nelson.
Nelson, 25, otherwise called “Shabba”, of Mackville Terrace, Kingston 20 was gunned down on September 18.

Reports from the police are that, “Puppy Rice”, whose real name is Jevan McIntosh, was among a group of men who kicked open the door to Nelson’s house, where they entered and opened gunfire hitting him.
He died on the spot.
Another member of Nelson’s household received gunshot injuries but survived the attack.
Police responded to the report and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Branch assigned to the St Andrew North Division commenced investigation during which the police said evidence was obtained, pointing to McIntosh as a suspect in the crimes.
Last Tuesday, the 28-year-old unemployed McIntosh of a Fairdene Avenue, Kingston 19 address was brought to the Constant Spring Police Station and placed in custody.
Two days after, he was interviewed in the presence of his lawyer and later charged with murder, wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Nelson was a member of the Akan Track Club at the time of his death.
