KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Jamaica is to welcome members of Government, civil society and academia to its new office for Open House Week from Monday, December 10 to Friday, December 14.

IDB said Open House Week will feature a series of activities designed to engage visitors and strengthen partnerships that are critical to the work of the bank.

It will also include the official launch of the IDB’s recent flagship publication ‘Nurturing Institutions for a Resilient Caribbean’; the launch of Adelante Jamaica: a new portal for digital project implementation and collaboration; a technology meet up, bringing some of Jamaica’s most fearless minds in technology together; the presentation of findings from an impact parenting study and an end of year celebration.

“We are delighted to welcome all our stakeholders to IDB Jamaica’s new home during Open House next week,” remarked Therese Turner-Jones, General Manager for the IDB’s Caribbean Country Department and Country Representative for Jamaica.

“Much of what Jamaica has achieved and the social and economic strides made over the past few years is as a result of close partnership and strong caring engagement with our stakeholders. The Open House is a celebration and evidence of that partnership to improve lives,” Turner-Jones explained. Additionally, the IDB said it is inviting members of the public to share their ideas for improving lives in Jamaica via the hashtag #ImprovingLives on Twitter from Monday, December 10 to Wednesday, December 12.

The person with the most innovative idea will be the general manager’s guest at the IDB’s end of year celebration during Open House, the release said.

“The general population, especially young people, possesses some of the most insightful practical solutions to problems in the country. We look forward to having productive perceptive conversations with them on Twitter,” said Turner-Jones.
