The controversy surrounding State-owned oil refinery Petrojam has drastically deepened, following the release of a report by the Auditor’s General Office yesterday on its operations and that of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ).
2. Surprise parties for Wheatly, Petrojam chairman cost $2.6m — AGD
The Auditor General’s Department (AGD) has revealed that within a three-month span, Petrojam financed two “surprise parties” totalling $2.6 million for then energy minister Dr Andrew Wheatley and former chairman of Petrojam Perceval Bahado-Singh.

Yesterday’s report from Auditor General Pamela Monroe Ellis found inconsistencies in the recruitment and selection processes at the State-owned-oil refinery Petrojam, indicating “explicit acts of nepotism”.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness is to review the auditor general’s report on the operations of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) and its affiliate, the state-owned oil refinery Petrojam, after which further action will be taken.

10. Early childhood practitioners exempted from some registration fees
Early childhood practitioners who are employed to institutions that have applied for a Certificate of Registration with the Early Childhood Commission (ECC) have been exempted from fees for police records, medical records and food handlers’ permits.
