KINGSTON, Jamaica — The police are advising that there is in existence a returning residents’ handbook, which gives general information about resettling in Jamaica, including security information.

This handbook is now available for download via the online publishing website, Issuu, here.

It is also available on the social media pages of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website and on the Jamaica Customs website, the police said in an advisory today. 

People are being encouraged to download and share the handbook with relatives and friends, both locally and in the diaspora. 

The police said copies will also be made available through the JCF’s Community Safety and Security Branch. 

Titled “Welcome Home”, the handbook was created after a meeting in July that involved individuals from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the police and other stakeholders. ‘Welcome Home’ was first published in September and is updated periodically as necessary.

Today’s advisory comes after this week’s murder of returning residents Karen Cleary-Brown and Barbara Findley.

The body of 43-year-old Cleary-Brown was discovered with stab wounds in a shallow grave in Boscobel, St Mary, on Monday. Cleary-Brown had reportedly returned to the island — after spending close to 30 years in England — to build her dream home in the parish when she met her demise.

Meanwhile, the decomposing body of 48-year-old Findley was discovered on Wednesday close to Providence Housing Scheme in Santa Cruz after residents detected a foul smell in bushes close to the entrance of the housing scheme.

She was reported missing last week.
