Finger-licking Xmas songs
FOR the second consecutive year, KFC Jamaica has collaborated with King Yard Productions on a Yuletide music project. The KFC Christmas Album features nine songs from several top acts including Christopher Martin and Romain Virgo.
Brand manager at KFC Andrei Roper spoke to the Jamaica Observer about the reception to the 2017 release.
“Last year’s KFC Christmas Album was very well-received among Jamaicans locally and in the diaspora. We had five artistes last year, namely Christopher Martin, Wayne Wonder, Romain Virgo, Tosh Alexander and D Major, and this year we added four new artistes to the mix. King Yard Productions was able to capture the essence of the Jamaican holiday spirit while giving the artistes freedom to add their personal flair,” he said. “The reggae spin on iconic Christmas hits sung by household favourites reached over 120,000 people last Christmas.”
The songs featured this year are: Every Year Christmas (Christopher Martin), One Little Christmas Tree (Romain Virgo), So This is Christmas (Wayne Wonder), Mary, Did You Know (Kevin Downswell), All I Want for Christmas (Tosh Alexander), Give Love on Christmas Day (D Major), Santa Claus (Do You Ever Come to The Ghetto), Oh Holy Night (Shenseea), and Rockin Around The Christmas Tree by Voicemail and Alaine.
Roper explained the reason for inclusion of more artistes.
“It was the easy and natural progression because of how well the first album was received and how our music has such a major impact across the world. Supporting Jamaican music is something that we are committed to,” he said.
The album is available at KFC’s 35 outlets in Jamaica. Patrons will receive a copy by purchasing a 12-piece Festive Feast Bucket meal, while this week, the company launches a digital component where customers who purchase any bucket meal receives a free promo-code to access and download a free 10-track deluxe version of The KFC Christmas Album with a bonus track from Martin.
