KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) says that some sections of the Corporate Area will continue to experience reduced water pressure or instances of no supply resulting from a major pipeline break which occurred over the weekend along the Mandela Highway.

According to NWC President, Mark Barnett with the forced shutdown of the Ferry facility, there has been a reduction in supplies to Washington Boulevard and environs by approximately 4.5 million gallons per day.

Barnett added that based on the location of the leak, the completion time for repairs cannot be immediately determined, due to the extensive excavation works that needs to be undertaken and other complexities.

The NWC in a release today said that interim measures have so far been implemented to supply the affected areas from alternative water supply facilities.

Impacted areas include: Washington Boulevard, Cooreville Gardens, Duhaney Park, Washington Gardens, Patrick City, Ziadie Gardens, State Gardens, Molynes Road, Moreton Park, Olympic Way, New Haven, Coburn Gardens, Seaview Gardens, Molynes Gardens and roads leading off.
