Weekly Round-up: Dengue epidemic… Audit reveals fraud at Dunn’s River … Three killed in August Town
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton on Thursday declared a dengue fever outbreak in the island as the virus surpassed the epidemic threshold with 123 cases reported in December.
It was revealed on Wednesday that the independent audit into the operations of Dunn’s River Falls and Park in St Ann has identified significant and long-term fraud control failures, financial misstatements, insufficient processes, and gaps in information technology controls.
And the island recorded the year’s first reported murders on New Year’s Day when three men were gunned down in August Town, St Andrew.
