Nordia has chocolate dreams
On-the-rise singer Nordia believes her training in the field of social work will help her to connect with the feelings and challenges facing her teeny-bopper audience.
“I have been writing songs for a long time. I write about how I feel, and a lot of young people my age are going through similar challenges with their personal and family relationships. So with my social work training, I am tuned into the problems facing teenagers, their fears, their dreams, their insecurities, and my songs will connect with them in a real way,” said the artiste, whose full name is Nordia Mothersille.
Nordia’s debut track, Ice Cream and Chocolate Bars, was officially released in November 2018 on the Reef Records imprint. It is available on all digital platforms.
“The song is really doing well on Spotify and there is a lyric video on YouTube. Based on the feedback, there are plans to shoot a video for the song next month,” said the 20-year-old.
A final-year student at the Moneague Community College in St Ann, Nordia is reading for a bachelor’s degree in social work.
Growing up in the town of Islington, St Mary, Nordia attended Port Maria Preparatory and then Marymount High School. She honed her skills performing on church choirs.
A year ago, she met record producer/artiste manager Romaine Henry and then inked a recording and management contract with Reef Records.
“It was great to finally find a place where I could record steadily and write songs and really develop my talent,” she added.
