Kabaka Pyramid drops latest video
Bebble Rock Music and Ghetto Youths International artiste Kabaka Pyramid has released the video for Reggae Music , the fifth single from his debut album Kontraband . The single, produced by Natural High, has been given what has been described as an authentic reggae-themed video by director Jay Will aimed at capturing the various cultural staples which are said to be the backbone of dancehall culture.
The director zooms in on activities such as the weekly event, Vinyl Thursdays, the pilgrimage through the mecca of reggae by Japanese soundmen via Trench Town and various other parts of Jamaica. Jay Will was able to deliver Kabaka’s vision of the single Reggae Music, throughout the video, by paying homage to great music and some of reggae music’s historical figures.
The video highlights the intricate cultural pieces that bind people together and give Jamaica its unique identity. At the beginning of the video there is a typical street dance and the sound system Jah Works, from Japan, playing music on sound system using vinyl. Then Kabaka Pyramid is seen in the studio with reggae/dancehall pioneer King Jammys.
Throughout the video there are various cameos from a wide array of artistes including Koro Fyah, WeePow of Stone Love sound system, Walshy Fire, Yaad Core, Jesse Royal and Damian “Junior Gong” Marley. The video promotes a vibe reggae music lovers will be able to relate to and newcomers will want to be a part of.
After seven months on the charts Kabaka Pyramid’s debut album Kontraband has re-entered the Billboard reggae top 10 charts.
