Trelawny police seize three firearms, arrest two people
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – The Trelawny police have reported that a man and a woman were taken into custody following the seizure of three firearms and 59 rounds of ammunition during operations in the parish yesterday, Monday, January 14.
Reports from the Falmouth Police are that about 11:30 am during an operation on the Kerry Park main road, the driver of a motor car was stopped. The vehicle, the driver and a passenger were searched and a Beretta pistol with a magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition was found, the police said.
Further investigations led officers to Samuel Prospect in the parish, to the home of one of the suspects. A search of the premises was carried out and an AK47 rifle, an M16 rifle, and 52 cartridges were seized.
Both people were taken into custody, however; their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
