Connecticut radio station recognises dancehall artiste Kashu
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Clarendon bred dancehall artiste Kashu, was named Artiste of the Year by Connecticut radio station BUSY 103.3 FM.
The Hartford based artiste is overwhelmed by the recognition.
“I’m honoured to be named the Artiste of the Year by one of the hottest dancehall radio in Connecticut and it really means a lot. This award is testament that my work is making a strong impact in Connecticut. I plan to build on this and keep the momentum going,” Kashu explained.
Since the start of the year, Kashu — given name Darren Williams — has been promoting songs including Powerful (Partiirockaz Entertainment label), Master Time (SMP label) and Name Yuh Blessings (Sab 11 Musiq label).
However, Name Yuh Blessings seems to have hit a chord with listeners since its release last November.
“I’m pleased with the response that Name Yuh Blessings has been getting. It is shaping up to become one of the biggest songs I have ever released. Since it came out, my phone has been ringing like crazy, I’m getting calls for dub plates from disc jockeys from all over the world,” said Kashu.
Tonight, the artiste is scheduled to perform at the Kabbala House in Hartford. On March 23, he shares stage with the likes of I Wayne and Exco Levi at the West Indian Social Club, Connecticut.
