LUCEA, Hanover — Falmouth United lost their season-long unbeaten run in all competitions after they were ambushed by Grand Palladium 2-1 in their second round Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation Charley’s JB Rum Super League game at the Collin Miller Sports Complex in Lucea on Sunday.

The promoted Falmouth United, who are in their second parish knockout final, are still leading Zone Two with 13 points, but saw their gap cut to a single point with two points separating the top three teams.

Defending champions Wadadah FC beat Delveland PYC 3-0 to move to 12 points, while Hopewell United missed going joint first after being held 1-1 by last-placed Reggae Youths, who were scoring their first point of the season in their sixth game.

Faulkland FC were held 0-0 by Harmony FC, the second time this season the teams were sharing the points, but the St James team lead with 14 points — three clear of Granville United who were held 1-1 on Saturday by Lucea FC. Harmony FC are next on nine points.

At the Collin Miller complex on Sunday, Grand Palladium got a third- consecutive win after losing their first three as Sheldon Smith scored two to give them a 2-0 lead before Falmouth United scored late to set up an interesting final 19 minutes of the game.

Smith gave Grand Palladium the lead after 22 minutes and doubled the advantage in the 47th minute.

Theodore Hopwood pulled one back for Falmouth United in the 71st minute, but the Trelawny club failed for the first time this year to even get a point.

Matthew Thorpe also got a brace as he led Wadadah FC to their win, scoring in the 23rd and 69th minutes after Chad Howell had given them the lead in the sixth minute.

An 80th-minute goal from former Reggae Youths player Larnel McFarlane rescued a point for Hopewell United in their 1-1 draw against Reggae Youths at the Orchard Sports Complex in Hopewell.

Darren Paul had given Reggae Youths their first lead of the season when he scored just before half-time, in the 44th minute.

Last Saturday, Granville United missed a chance to retake a share of the lead in Zone One after they were held 1-1 by Lucea FC at the Granville Community Centre.

Sandals South Coast also helped their cause with a 3-0 win over winless Somerton FC in the first-ever Super League game played at the Dumphries Community Centre field.

Demar Dohman, who played for Granville United two seasons ago, gave Lucea FC the lead in the 18th minute but Oniel Pringle scored in his second straight game when he equalised for the home team in the 54th minute, beating the Lucea FC goalkeeper with a low hard shot to his right.

At Dumphries, Kenrick Clarke shot Sandals South Coast into the lead in the 32nd minute, but they had to wait until the 55th minute when Tristan Sommerville added a second.

The veteran Ron Daley added a third in the 70th minute as Somerton FC have now conceded 20 goals in their first six games, all losses.
