18th Annual Couples Resorts Charity Golf Tourney raises $1.7 million
Another $1.7 million was raised on Sunday at the 2019 edition of the 18th Annual Couples Resorts Ocho Rios Charity Golf Tournament, held at Sandals Golf and Country Club.
Ninety participants were involved in this year’s event, which has raised well over $27 million over the past 17 years for the three charities set to benefit. They are Three Hill Primary School, Hamilton Mountain Basic School, and The Animal House.
On the golf course Fabian Mowatt and Steve Walton-Harry emerged victorious in the net score category ahead of Hopeton Marshall and Norris Riley. Mowatt and Walton-Harry won for themselves three nights in a suite at Couples Tower Isle or Couples Sans Souci.
Marshall and Riley won two nights in a suite at either facility.
In the gross score category, Ohsane Hay and Zandre Roye scored a victory ahead of Jodi Munn and Mark Newnham.
Hay and Roye also won for themselves three nights in a suite at Couples Tower Isle or Couples Sans Souci, while Munn and Newnham copped the prize of two nights in a suite at either facility.
Third place went to Hans and Jenny Schneider, who won two nights in a garden view room at Couples Tower Isle or Couples Sans Souci.
Larry Stewart and Jonathan Newnham won fourth place and with it Samsung J5 Pro smartphones donated by Digicel, while Phil Duff and Dean McIntyre claimed fifth place and with it day passes and spa treatment at Couples Tower Isle or Couples Sans Souci.
Tony Allison won the closest to the pin at hole 15; Dr Mark Newnham won the closest to the pin and holes 13 and 11; Hopeton Marshall won the closest to the pin at hole 7, and Larry Stewart won the closest to the pin at hole 4.
The Couples Resorts Ocho Rios Charity Golf Tournament is the brainchild of repeat guests, Americans Gene and Jane Saks from Florida, and Alan and Josie Kline from Arizona.
