MONTEGO BAY, St James — Herbert Morrison will seek to salvage some personal pride today when they take on St Elizabeth Technical and Knox of the Central Conference in an ISSA national play-off double-header at the Montego Bay Cricket Club, set to start at 2:00 pm.

Western Conference teams have lost all five games played in the national play-offs so far, and should be going for wins today in the Under-16 and Under-19 categories respectively.

After their double overtime loss to St George’s College on Friday, Herbert Morrison’s defence of the Under-19 title is on thin ice and they must beat Knox College by a wide margin and hope for a miracle elsewhere.

Herbert Morrison had also lost their opening Under-16 game to Old Harbour High, while Cornwall College lost both of their Under-16 games and are out of contention, while York Castle, the Western Conference Under-19 runners-up were beaten by Calabar High 49-34 at the Montego Bay Cricket Club on Tuesday.

Despite a game-high 14 points and 16 rebounds from Nedjrick Peat, York Castle managed just 12 points in the second half after leading at the end of the first quarter.

Both teams got off to a slow start, but York Castle were ahead 10-8 at the end of the first, but Calabar High rallied to lead by two points 25-23 at half-time.

Calabar led by Tyrese Jackson and Carlton Boothe, who both scored 11 points each, edged further ahead in the third quarter and led 34-29 going into the fourth quarter where they ran away from the St Ann team.

In the first game of the double-header, St George’s College kept their record perfect in Montego Bay this season, beating Cornwall College 58-40.

St George’s College controlled the game from the start, leading 13-7, 32-16 and 46-28 at the breaks.

Joshua Jackson and Justin Nelson both scored 14 points for St George’s College, while Romario Senior scored a game-high 22 points and had 10 blocked shots and nine rebounds for Cornwall College.
