Violet Kickers clip Seba 2-1 in renewal of old St James rivalry
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Violet Kickers scored their first victory of the St James Football Association/Sandals Resort International Major League after coming from behind to beat Seba FC 2-1 at the UDC field on Wednesday.
The rivalry between the teams goes back several decades, and at one time, was played out at the highest level in Jamaica when the two met in the Premier League final in the 1994-95 season.
Wednesday’s game failed to provide any outstanding moments as the two teams battled for the first win as Seba FC have now lost three-straight games.
The win took Violet Kickers to four points, same as fourth-placed Irwin FC, two points behind a trio of teams tied in the lead.
Daquan Scarlett gave Seba FC the lead early in the game with the club’s first goal of the season but Andrew Walker pulled Violet Kickers back level late in the first half.
Alando McIntosh then secured all three points late in the game when he converted from the penalty spot after a Seba FC defender handled the ball in the box.
