Belgian man held with cocaine at Sangster airport — police
ST JAMES, Jamaica — A Belgian man has been arrested and charged after he was reportedly held cocaine at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.
He has been identified as 55-year-old Jan Gerebern Kempen, a farmer of Belgium.
The police said Kempen checked in to board a departing flight to Brussels, Belgium about 4:30 pm on Sunday and during security screening, the cocaine was found concealed on his person.
The illicit drug has an estimated street value of $34,000.
Kempen was charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and attempting to export cocaine.
He is scheduled to appear in the St James Parish Court on Friday.
