UPDATE: Kartel discharged from medical facility

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel was a short while ago discharged from a Corporate Area medical facility where he was receiving treatment since Sunday.

Sources close to OBSERVER ONLINE revealed that the incarcerated deejay went to treat a thyroid-related issue.

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland in the front of the neck. It produces hormones that control the speed of your metabolism — the system that helps the body use energy. Thyroid disorders can slow down or rev up metabolism by disrupting the production of thyroid hormones.

Vybz Kartel, given name Adidja Palmer, is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
