16 teams reach second round of Gatorade 5v5 football

The Jamaica leg of Gatorade 5v5 football competition got under way yesterday at the Barbican playing field with the first round of eliminations.

After an exciting day of knockout action the following 16 teams advanced to the group stage of the tournament which gets under way today at 10:00 am. Those advancing were MRC Football Academy, Westchester Football Club, Giant Strikers, Clarendon College, St George’s A, Excelsior High School, St Elizabeth Technical High School 2, Cavalier Football Club A, St Elizabeth Technical High School 1, Calabar High School, Ballaz Academy, Church of God of Prophecy A, Garvey Maceo, Cavalier Football Club B, Kingston College, and Liguanea Football Club.

After today’s group stage, the competition will continue and end tomorrow with the winning team going on to represent Jamaica at the International final in Madrid, Spain.
