KINGSTON, Jamaica — Arguments in a bitter legal dispute between a founding director and shareholder of prominent Jamaican consulting and booking company, Headline Entertainment, Allison Hunte and its Managing Director, Jerome Hamilton, are to be heard in the Supreme Court on July 30 this year.

Hunte via her attorneys Lord Anthony Gifford and Emily Shields recently filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Hamilton and Headline Entertainment.

Hunte, who is a Barbadian national, has also asked the Supreme Court to order that a forensic audit of the company be carried out by independent auditors.

According to documents filed in court, Headline Entertainment has managed bookings in Jamaica and around the world for some of the country’s leading entertainers including Shaggy, Beenie Man, Sean Paul Buju Banton, and Konshens along with the Marley Brothers, Stephen and Junior Gong.

Hunte claimed that as a director and shareholder of the company she supplied a multi-million dollar loan to Hamilton and other stakeholders which facilitated the company being founded in 1997.

However, she said Headline Entertainment and Hamilton, in his capacity as managing director, have never paid her a cent from what she believed to have been major profits made by the company, which is widely recognised as the leading entertainment consulting, booking and promotions firm in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Documents filed in court stated that Hunte has not been paid sums due to her arising from hundreds of successful business deals entered into by the company, which has been integral in entertainers, including Sean Paul, Shaggy and Junior Gong, doing hundreds of performances across the world.

The director of Headline Entertainment has also alleged in court documents obtained by OBSERVER ONLINE prior to a court hearing this week that she was illegally removed as a director of the company and replaced by media personality and public relations specialist, Carlette DeLeon.

Hunte said after taking legal action she was reinstated.

In the court documents, lawyers for Hunte also accused Hamilton of not ensuring that the company keeps proper financial records.

She requested that the court order that Headline Entertainment and Hamilton produce up-to-date financial records for the company.

The managing director of Headline Entertainment is accused in the court documents of using profits generated by the company to subsidise several of his other business interests. The director of Headline Entertainment has asked the court to order the company to supply her with a statement outlining profits it has made over the past two decades.

Hamilton and Headline Entertainment, via their attorney Sashawah Newby, denied the multiple allegations in a defence filed on their behalf. The dispute between Headline Entertainment and Hunte was mentioned before the Supreme Court this week when a date for the end of July was agreed on for arguments to be heard.
