Couple charged after cops find 72 pounds of ganja in Kingston
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — A St Andrew businessman and his wife have been charged with several breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act, following the seizure of approximately 72 pounds of ganja at a premises on Old Hope Road, Kingston 6 yesterday.
The couple, 58-year-old Irving Robinson and 54-year-old Glendine Robinson, is to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court tomorrow, to answer to joint charges of possession of ganja, dealing in ganja and using a premises for the storage of ganja.
Narcotics police seized the drug, which is estimated to value $288,000 on the street, during an operation about 1:00 pm.
In light of this arrest, the lawmen are again warning people that if they are caught cultivating, dealing, storing or transporting ganja without the requisite licence/permit, they will be arrested and prosecuted.
