Wadadah look to rebound in JFF Western Confed

WHITEHOUSE, Westmoreland —

Defending champions Wadadah FC will hope to rebound from last Saturday’s loss to Faulkland FC, when they travel to Crocs Lawn in Whitehouse, Westmoreland on Saturday, to face former champions Sandals South Coast in their Jamaica Football Federation Western Confederation Charley’s JB Rum Super League third round game, set to start at 3:30pm.

With leaders Faulkland FC set to meet Falmouth United on Tuesday, Wadadah FC could reclaim at least a share of the lead, while a big win would see them take the lead on goal difference.

Faulkland FC lead with 30 points, three more than Wadadah FC, with Falmouth United in third place on 23 points, and Sandals South Coast in fourth place on 21 points.

Sandals South Coast missed joining Falmouth United on points after coming from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against relegation- threatened Reggae Youths at the UDC field in Montego Bay on Tuesday.

Oshane Thompson and Santino Grinnon gave embattled Reggae Youths the lead at half-time, but Sandals South Coast roared back in the second half with goals from Cory Rodriques and Junior Neil, and could have won the game.

On Saturday, Sandals South Coast will be up against a tough Wadadah FC team that are eager to rebound after their loss last weekend, and despite playing at home, will start as underdogs.

Wadadah FC have managed just one goal in each of their last three games, two from Oshane Hunter in their last two games, and top scorers Kemiro James, Matthew Thorpe and Tyshan Hill must step up if they are to return to the semi-finals.

Also on Saturday, former champions Granville United will be seeking back-to-back wins for the first time since the first two weeks of the season, when they host Hanover club Grand Palladium at the Granville Community Centre, while Lucea FC will host Reggae Youths at Rusea’s High.

Granville United outscored Delveland PYC 4-2 last weekend, snapping a six-game winless run, and are hoping to get the better of Grand Palladium, who are three points and one place ahead of them.

Granville’s coaching staff will be hoping that Gregory Gordon and Romaine Reid’s form — both scored doubles for Granville last week — will hold at least through this weekend.

Grand Palladium are unbeaten in their last four games, however, and will not be pushovers against the struggling former champions.

On Sunday, Harmony FC, who are holding their own and eyeing a return to the semi-finals, will host Delveland PYC at Bounty Hall, while Hopewell United are to play away to Somerton FC at Dumfries.
