Guitarist David Marston and singer Sarah Couch (daughter of the late singer Suzanne Couch) teamed up two years ago to form DejaVilla, an eclectic duo who debuted last October with the song Suit A Rebel.

In February, American label Ultra Music released their single Ochi to MoBay, an instrumental dance number that balances dub, reggae and rhythm and blues.

“Ochi to MoBay is our first original song for the year and it’s an ode to sexual independence and fierce self-confidence. It is also paying homage to Ocho Rios and Montego Bay,” said Couch.

The song will be on DejaVilla’s EP for Ultra, due for release later this year.

Marston and Couch met while attending Hillel Academy and maintained a steady friendship. Their sound is a range of styles built around their Jamaican roots and influences from travelling the world.

Said Marston “The Ochi to MoBay instrumental is smooth and understated, but focused and danceable. It was written with the idea that it would be utilised with vocals.”

DejaVilla signed to Ultra Music last year. They join a roster that includes OMI, electro house musicians Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris, David Guetta and rapper Pitbull.
