Police say top-tier MS-13 gang member killed
ST JAMES, Jamaica — A man who the police say is a top-tier member of the MS-13 gang based in Granville, St James was fatally shot during a confrontation with lawmen in his community yesterday.
He is 32-year-old Amoy Young, otherwise called ‘Pinky’ of Gordon Crescent in Granville, who was wanted for several offences.
Police say his offences include:
• Illegal possession of ammunition, committed in Retirement district, Granville in the parish on August 09, 2018;
• Burglary, sexual grooming, assaulting female and assault occasioning actual bodily harm committed on December 16, 2018 in Barrett Town in the parish;
• Murder of Ronald Samuels committed on May 2, 2018 on Gordon Crescent, Granville in the parish; and
• Wounding with intent of Dwayne Maxwell committed on December 15, 2018 in Retirement, Granville in the parish.
The police say a Browning single action 9mm pistol with a magazine containing two 9mm cartridges was seized in the incident.
The Inspectorate of the constabulary is investigating the incident, which has also been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
