Trending: Gaudy Glamour
Inspired by a gorgeous profile of Saint International model Tami Williams in a recent editorial, titled ‘Black Cotillion’, for Garage mag, your Under the Dryer (UTD) glam team discovered myriad new looks during fashion weeks (from New York to London, then Paris to Milan) that, we reckon, will be trending all year long. The takeaway this season was clear: there’s an element of over-the-top glamour in just about every trendy piece. Under the Dryer pulls together the season’s hottest styles. Plus, we’ve added in the mix a few miscellaneous accessories that we simply couldn’t ignore.
Headgear Heaven
The crown is covered this season, according to Christian Dior, Christian Cowan, Hellessy, Koche and several other designers. Styles range from ostrich feathers, rhinestone skull caps, to the return of the cowboy hat.
THE HAND ISSUE
The hands were not forgotten this season, from stacked rings or bangles, some of the hottest accessories this season were seen on the forearms. Balenciaga and Ulla Johnson definitely understand the concept of ‘more is more’, taken with ivory bangles and a diamond ring that is about three fingers wide.
Done by Dilone
The model du jour, who only goes by Dilone, is one of fashion’s rising stars. She’s on our radar for three reasons, that ash grey cut, and her oblong face, and naturally clean supple skin. The bald-babe look goes well with every single designer’s looks. Fabulous!
Up To The Neck
Whether they were thin and piled up or chunky and piled up, gold necklaces covered the necklines at Adeam. Abstract gold earrings added oomph, while Y/Project’s sculpture-mimicking shapes gave the neck, ear, and wrists more gaudiness than we could shake a stick at. Regardless, we love it!
EAR LIES THE STATEMENT
Your day can go from womp to wowza with the right pair of earrings. From the Christian Siriano, Giorgio Armani, Badgley Mischka, Arthur Arbesser and Versace shows earrings were just as important as hair. Certainly, for designers like Paco Rabanne, earrings made more of a statement than make-up. The most elegant hoops, however, were discovered at AREA.
