MONTEGO BAY, St James – Alicia Patrice England, the woman accused of being a ‘quack doctor’, and who was arrested and charged for several offences, including breaches of the Medical Act, was ordered remanded in custody by a St James Parish Court judge yesterday.

England, who has been referred to as ‘England McCrane’ and ‘Dr McCrane’ was charged by Area One Fraud Squad detectives, as well as by police personnel in the Corporate Area, for offences including forgery, uttering forged documents, obtaining money by false pretence and breaches of the Medical Act.

She is scheduled to appear in the St James Parish Court on April 9 when the case will again be mentioned. At that time, a bail application is expected to be made by her attorney Martyn Thomas.

The date was set in the absence of England, who is currently in custody at the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Centre.

She is currently facing other charges in the Corporate Area.

Yesterday, presiding Judge Sandra Wong Small set the date after the court was told by Thomas that he was trying to obtain documents pertaining to England from the United States of America where she allegedly worked as a registered nurse before she was deported to Jamaica.
