#Champs2019: Chang crowned discus champion as Cbar takes aim at lead
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Calabar’s Kai Chang justified favourite seeding to land gold in the boys’ Class One discus throw at the 109th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
Chang, the runner up from last year and World Under-20 champion, seized the initiative earlier this year with a heave of 60.32m.
However, he bettered that mark a short while ago to win the event with a throw of 61.93 metres. St Jago’s Romario Jackson (58.57m) was second with Daniel Cope of Petersfield was third with a mark of 56.84m.
With Chang’s nine points, Calabar jumped to 25 points, but remain in second behind Kingston College who lead with 27 points after three events scored.
