#Champs2019: Lawrence, Blake cop Class 2 1,500m titles
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Aneisha Lawrence of Bellefield and Jamaica College’s J’Voughn Blake finished tops in the boys’ and girls’ Class Two 1,500m finals at the 109th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
After watching her teammate Tavaughn Martin do the business in the boys’ Class Three event, Lawrence followed suit with a command victory in 4:43.54.
She won ahead of Hydel’s Jade Jones (4:45.53) and Rushana Dwyer (4:46.73) of Edwin Allen.
On the boys’ side, Blake, who sometimes challenges his Class one peers, proved too strong for his Class two counterparts winning in an impressive 3:55.63, just outside the record of 3:55.38 set by Calabar’s Kevroy Venson in 2017.
KC’s Henry twins Gianni (3:57.68) and Giovouni (3:59.99) were second and third respectively.
