#Champs2019: Holmwood’s Deer, Hamm cop Class two 400m titles
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Holmwood Technical’s Daniella Deer successfully defended her class two 400m title, while her schoolmate Tahj Hamm took the boys’ event on the final day of the 109th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
Deer, running from lane four, left it late to sweep by Garriel White of Hydel to win in 53.30.
White was second in 53.56, with Roshell Rowe (55.11) of Manchester High in third.
On the boys’ side, Hamm showed superb form and stamina to leave the field in his wake, winning comfortably in 48.14.
Tarrant’s Jeremy Bembridge was second in 48.76, ahead of Malachi Johnson (48.88) of Excelsior.
