#Champs2019: Hydel’s McAnnuff, KC’s Weir win Class Three 400m titles
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Oneika McAnnuff of Hydel and Akeem Weir of Kingston College won the girls’ and boys’ Class Three 400m titles on the final day of the 109th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
McAnnuff, the silver medallist from last year, turned the tables on her conqueror Rickiann Russell of Holmwood Technical to strike gold in a personal best 53.01 seconds.
Russell was second in 53.88 with Dejanea Oakley (54.09) of Clarendon College in third.
Meanwhile, Weir produced a valiant effort from lane eight, literally diving across the line to win the boys’ event in 50.66 ahead of Charlemont’s Deshaun Dacres (50.66) and Jasauna Dennis (51.15) of St Elizabeth Technical.
