#Champs2019: Winners of boys and girls 200m titles
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Below are the winners of the 200 metre titles in Class 1, 2 and 3.
Tia Clayton, Scott win Class 3 200m titles
Tia Clayton of Edwin Allen and Christopher Scott of Jamaica College won the Class Three 200m titles on the final day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championships underway at the National Stadium.
Tia, who lost the 100m to her sister Tina on Friday, came good this time around to win in 23.44s in a positive 0.4 metres per second wind reading.
Tina was just behind in second in 23.46s with Brianna Lyston (23.73s) of St Jago third.
On the boys’ side, Scott completed the sprint double with another command performance to win in 22.09s in a negative 0.6 metres per second wind speed.
The KC pair of Yourie Lawrence (22.64s) and Amontae Wray (22.79s) were second and third respectively.
Davis, Scott wins Class 2 200m titles Edwin Allen’s Kevona Davis and Raheim Scott of Rusea’s High won the Class Two 200m titles. Davis, the champion from last year, successfully defended her title in this her final year as a class two athlete. She cruised home in 23.21s in a negative 0.7 metres per second reading with no apparent interest in her record of 22.72s from last year, as her hamstring was heavily taped. Joanne Reid (23.44s) of St Jago and Sashieka Steele (23.72s) of Holmwood Technical were second and third respectively. In the boys’ event, Scott outlasted JC’s Deondre McIntosh to win in 21.52s in a negative 0.3 metres per second wind speed. McIntosh was second in 21.54s with Calabar’s Corey Ottey (21.78s) in third.
Moore, Nairne win Class 1 200m title Ashanti Moore of Hydel and Xavier Nairne of Wolmer’s Boys won the Class One 200m titles. Moore, who won the 100m on Friday, completed the sprint double with victory in 23.26s in a head wind of negative 0.8 metres per second. Ockera Myrie (23.80s) of Petersfield was second with sprint hurdles champion Daszay Freeman (24.02s) of The Queen’s School in third. With no Christopher Taylor around, Nairne proved to be the next best thing winning in 20.91s in a negative 0.3 metres per second wind speed.
